The Matte Black Faucet Love Affair Lives On

The Matte Black Faucet Love Affair Lives On

A new house with a new kitchen obviously means a new matte black faucet!

We have had a busy year here at Our Uncluttered House. This time last year we had sold our fixer upper bungalow (that we poured our heart and souls into), and bought a beautiful two year old Bungaloft in the picturesque town of Port Hope, Ontario. We immediately got to work making that house a home, complete with the addition of the Fairbury Faucet by American Standard, in matte black (naturally) in the kitchen, and double Studio S matte black faucets in the master bathroom.

And then life happens and things change and we put that beautiful little bungaloft on the market, it sold quicker than we ever expected (5 days) and we found ourselves looking to buy a new home just nine short months after we had moved in (and just a few weeks before Christmas!).

We made our way back to the town where we had raised our kids, where we both have extended family and many friends, and bought a new build inventory home. It was ready and waiting for us, complete with a beautiful kitchen with quartz countertops and a chrome builder grade faucet (queue sad music)! But it hasn’t remained sad for long, we have once again partnered with our friends at American Standard Canada to bring sexy back into our new kitchen!

Here is our before with the builder grade chrome faucet

Meet the American Standard Studio S Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet…in matte black of course. Just when I thought a matte black faucet couldn't get any sleeker or sexier than the Fairbury, this beauty stopped me in my tracks.

We (my hubby), installed this faucet six days ago and it was not only love at first sight, the features and functionality check every box! Lets first talk about installation….it literally took 15 minutes and 5 minutes of that was removing the old faucet. This faucet literally comes with everything you need (except a wrench) including clear and user friendly illustrated instructions. Perfect for anyone who has never installed a faucet before.

User friendly installation!

Here are a few of the features we love the most….

  • this faucet is 18 inches tall which totally steps up the asethic game making it look professional and, this extra height makes filling pots or large vessels of any sort, super easy. It was honestly the first thing I noticed and loved…that and the elevated one piece handle. Total game changer!

  • The spray head comes with a “Re-Trax” feature, which in layman terms basically means it pulls out and retracts super smooth!

  • The spray head also can be used single handedly, a feature that we LOVE. It has a pause button so you can easily alternate back and forth between spray and stream which makes cleaning/rinsing your sink super easy

  • If you have a double sink like me, the single hand use sprayer is great but more importantly, the faucet swivels 360 degrees smoothly which also makes clean up more efficient!

  • This faucet comes with durable preinstalled nylon water lines which my hubby says are the best! And he has had a “bit” of experience installing American Standard faucets!

  • Last but not least is this matte back finish shows zero fingerprints….true story…I know, I still can’t believe it myself.

Of course there’s all kind technical info some of you may love to know about, like high quality drip-free ceramic disc valves….you can read ALL the specs and features by clicking this link. In our house, that’s my hubby’s department, i’m all about the look and functionality and we both give the Studio S Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet 10 outta 10!

Oh, and that 18 inch height I mentioned? It’s perfect for bathing Archie, as you can see, in just 6 short months, he’s totally outgrown the Fairbury Faucet!

Thanks for following our journey! As always if you have any questions we are always happy to try and help!

Cheers!

Michele & Alan
